Description of Task to be Performed: AnaVation is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team and support our mission critical customer in Reston, VA. As Lead, you will represent the engineering team in customer meetings, plan quarterly Agile Development Planning commitments, drive technology roadmaps, work with the AnaVation Program Manager to accelerate customer priorities, and mentor senior, mid-level, and junior engineers. This team works with AWS cloud services including modernization of Elastic, RHEL, WSUS, and cross domain integration and automation. Our team supports and enhances 10 core application and data services used by multiple Government Agencies. The Engineering Team includes 15 staff (Systems Integration Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Software Engineers, System Administrators, Database Administrators, Data Scientists, and Information System Security Officers). This position is responsible for planning/estimating staffing, software licensing, and hosting capacity for roadmap projects and capabilities. This position is also a personnel supervisor position with 5-7 direct reports including performance reviews, engineering career planning, technical interviews for new staff, Agile Delivery (Jira) prioritization and reviews, and ongoing timesheet approvals.
