Commissioning Engineer / Manager (Data Center)

About the role

An established engineering firm is seeking a Commissioning Engineer / Manager to take charge of the end-to-end commissioning scope for large-scale data center projects. The role will oversee all testing, validation, and handover processes to ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with design intent and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage commissioning works across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, test procedures, and integrated systems testing (IST) protocols.
• Coordinate closely with design, construction, and operations teams to align schedules and ensure readiness for handover.
• Supervise subcontractors and vendors during system testing, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards.
• Review and validate commissioning documentation, reports, and sign-off records.
• Track and report progress, highlight potential risks or delays, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all systems achieve functional performance and meet operational acceptance criteria.
• Support troubleshooting, performance testing, and client witnessing during final stages.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering.
• Relevant commissioning experience, ideally within data center or mission-critical environments.
• Strong technical understanding of M&E systems such as HV/LV, UPS, generators, chilled water, CRAC/CRAH, BMS, and fire protection.
• Prior exposure to hyperscale or colocation data center projects.
