About the role

The Workplace Injury Management Nurse plays a vital role in Sonder's proactive and responsive approach to managing injuries and illnesses sustained in the workplace. Operating within a telehealth model,this role is responsible for the clinical triage, assessment, coordination, and ongoing management of members who have sustained a workplace injury or illness. This role ensures members are promptly connected to the most appropriate care pathways based on their clinical needs and customer entitlements. In addition to providing advice and support, the Nurse acts as a liaison between the injured member, healthcare providers, and employer representatives to ensure timely, person-centred, and effective care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct telehealth-based clinical triage and assessment of workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Provide evidence-informed advice and support to injured members, including first aid recommendations and escalation guidance.
  • Determine eligibility and refer members to appropriate treatment providers and support services aligned with customer contracts and clinical needs.
  • Coordinate and oversee case management, ensuring continuity of care and consistent follow-up with members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation within internal health record systems (Healthcloud).
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all parties involved in the injury management process, including employers, members, and healthcare providers.
  • Monitor recovery progress through shared reports and provide timely interventions or adjustments to care plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Clinical, Customer Success, Safety) to support best practice service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold compliance with relevant workplace health and safety legislation and clinical governance frameworks.

  • What you bring to the team;
  • Bachelor of Nursing/BSc(Hons) minimum.
  • Current registration with AHPRA without restrictions (Australia)
  • Triage experience. - desirable but not essential
  • Five + years of nursing experience including:
  • Experience in occupational health nursing or a related field
  • Experience operating within the Workplace Injury Management and strong understanding of Workers Compensation Act 1998
  • Current working knowledge of Injury Management processes and regulations within the scheme.
  • Certification in 'Return to Work Coordinator' or similar
