Responsibilities

  • Supplier Assessment and Selection:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers to assess their capability, quality systems, and compliance with industry standards.

  • Root Cause Analysis:
  • Investigate quality issues related to suppliers, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to identify problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues and improve their processes.
  • Quality Documentation:
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions specific to Press Part /Structure components.
  • Ensure that all quality records are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in supplier quality performance.
  • Facilitate training and workshops with suppliers to promote best practices in quality management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality standards are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in product development meetings to provide input on supplier capabilities and quality considerations.
  • Location & Travel Expectations :
  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina,
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 4-8 years of supplier quality experience in the automotive industry, preferably with press parts and structural components.
  • Strong knowledge of stamping, welding, structural manufacturing processes, and supplier quality systems.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA standards, and supplier auditing.
