Position Summary... We are seeking an experienced, business-oriented Senior Counsel to join Digital Citizenship's Data and Technology legal team, with a dedicated focus on generative AI (GenAI) and biometric technologies. This role is critical in supporting the company's responsible innovation goals, ensuring privacy and data protection compliance, and advising cross-functional teams on emerging legal risks associated with AI and biometric data usage. As Senior Counsel, you will partner closely with Global Technology, product, data science, compliance, and policy teams to provide practical, risk-balanced advice on the development and deployment of AI tools, biometric systems, and related data use cases. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our global privacy strategy for advanced technologies. What you'll do... Provide strategic legal counsel on privacy, data protection, and ethical use of GenAI models and biometric technologies. Advise on compliance with global privacy laws and regulations, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, BIPA, other US state privacy laws related to biometric data, and evolving AI regulations. Partner with product and engineering teams to design and implement privacy-by-design frameworks and risk mitigation strategies. Support the development of internal policies, training, and governance structures for GenAI and biometric data use. Review agreements for terms related to privacy, specifically, AI-specific vendor contracts, and biometric disclosures. Monitor global legal and regulatory developments in privacy, AI, and biometrics; provide proactive guidance to internal stakeholders. Collaborate with privacy operations, security, and incident response teams to manage risk and address incidents involving AI or biometric data. Support engagement with regulators and industry groups to shape best practices and emerging standards.
