YOUR ROLE As a Senior Category Buyer , you will lead sourcing strategy, supplier selection, and cost management to deliver competitive BOM costs and support flawless project launches across Aptiv's programs. - New sourcing - Ensure the yearly business plan meets cost-reduction targets by establishing long-term supplier contracts with approved multi‑year cost‑reduction objectives. - Source and select suppliers on time that meet Quality, Volume, and Cost (Q/V/C) criteria to achieve business objectives. - Establish category strategy for the buying office. - New business quotes support - Engage category teams to support new project bidding processes. - Partner creatively with Business Managers/Sales to address customer special requests. - Ensure new BOM costs are competitive for new bids. - Support flawless project launch - Actively support pre‑quote processes for new supplier selection and negotiations. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve critical issues efficiently. - Qualify/select/approve suppliers for the approved supplier list/PBU/Segment. - Review and communicate project plans with PBU and GSM category teams. - Drive competitive BOM cost & continuous cost reduction - Monitor supplier performance and periodically reassess capabilities. - Create and track supplier assessment and development plans (execution owned by the division). - Develop plans to achieve lowest upfront costs and ideal value stream performance. - Build and maintain global supplier relationships for major cross‑PBU suppliers and lead cross‑PBU negotiations as required. - Support negotiation of corporate‑wide supplier payment terms and Master Terms & Conditions with PBU support. - Set up cost models and apply supplier cost analysis expertise. - Address critical purchasing issues with cross‑functional teams - Promote cost management activities to ensure requirements align with cost standards. - Coordinate/lead Category Team initiatives. - Coordinate technical leads and supplier interface resources to develop the supply base and understand global market trends/changes. - Ensure appropriate technical integration and leadership to: - Communize specifications and parts. YOUR BACKGROUND 3-5 key responsibilities (focus areas): - Act as the commodity owner in the buying office; provide active, effective leverage with the global commodity team. - Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop potential low‑cost suppliers for localization and cost reduction; run competitive bids and negotiate winning agreements to ensure on‑time sourcing/localization. - Conduct competitive analysis on commodity cost drivers, technology, market/industry benchmarks, supply/demand, trends, and capacity. - Utilize cost management tools to achieve lowest upfront cost-understand "current," "potential," and "ideal" price; implement strategic plans and Value Improvement tactics (e.g., lean, cost modeling, Six Sigma). - Develop purchasing strategies for assigned commodities to achieve ideal pricing and meet cost‑savings targets aligned to Q/V/C criteria; support cost estimating by maintaining current cost‑book data and future‑year forecast pricing. 3-5 qualifications: - B.S. degree or above in Engineering, Business/Commerce, or related field. - 6+ years' experience in relevant commodities; automotive experience a plus; CPSM is an advantage. - Strong knowledge of purchasing processes and relevant corporate procedures; skilled in analyzing supplier financials and assessing manufacturing capability via on‑site evaluations. - Excellent communication (Mandarin & English), interpersonal, negotiation, multitasking, and people skills; tenacious, goal‑oriented problem solver with a global perspective. - Proficient in MS Excel and Word; SAP experience a plus.
