Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D product models to meet customer design requirements
• Select material specification to meet environmental requirements.
• Incorporate design for manufacturing, cost, and performance.
• Generate 2D drawings as required for TDP creation.
• Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details.
• Support project and operations teams
• Support existing products and product upgrades
• Participate in failure analysis activities
• Performs design trade studies and hand calculations
• Perform tolerance studies
• Support bid and proposal activities.

Requirements

• The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline and experience with the design of aerospace and defense products. A degree can be waived based on significant years of relevant experience.
• Required experience includes:
• Demonstrated experience generating 3D models & 2D drawings.
• Understands requirements in customer and military specifications and how they apply to design
• Understands GD&T and how it effects part cost and manufacturability
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and with customers.
• Proficient with Microsoft office suite software.
• Desired skills: CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred. Experience with energetic materials a plus. Demonstrated history of driving tasks to closure.
