Welding Technician

About the role

- Able to fabricate, joining, and repairing metal components using techniques like MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. - Interpret blueprints, ensure code compliance, inspect weld quality, and maintain equipment, serving as a vital link between fabrication labor and engineering teams to ensure safety and precision. Core Responsibilities Fabrication & Welding: Perform high-quality welding on various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Inspection & Quality Control: Inspect welded joints for structural integrity, defects, and dimensional accuracy, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes (e.g., AWS, ASME). Material Preparation: Cut, grind, fit, and prepare metal components for welding using torches, plasma cutters, and grinders. Equipment Maintenance: Perform, troubleshoot, and maintain welding machinery, power sources, and robotic welding cells. Documentation & Planning: Develop welding techniques and procedures, document inspection results, and maintain certification records. Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the use of PPE and maintaining a safe, clean workspace . Requirements & Qualifications Education: Postsecondary certificate, diploma, or associate degree in welding technology or a related field. Experience: Proven experience as a welder, often with specialized certification in specific welding processes (e.g., ASME certification). Technical Skills: Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and 3D models, understanding weld symbols, and basic math/trigonometry. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform heavy manual work, including lifting over 50-100 lbs frequently, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces
