About This Opportunity The Everick Indigenous Associate Research Assistant Scheme supports the development of research skills through participation in research projects across a broad range of disciplines. Supported by training, mentoring and collaboration with experienced researchers, candidates will build their research capability while exploring future study and career pathways. Applicants are invited to express their interest in the program and identify their areas of research interest, which may include fields such as archaeology, cultural heritage, anthropology, history, geography, environmental management and other related disciplines. Successful candidates will be matched with suitable research opportunities based on their interests, skills and the needs of participating research teams. Successful candidates will work with UQ researchers in the School of Social Science, and projects may involve joint supervision with staff from the School of Social Science as well as researchers from other UQ Schools, Centres, Institutes, Museums and external research partners. Key responsibilities will include: Assist with the collection of data or samples. Maintain accurate and up to date research records. Prepare text, graphs and figures for research reports. Actively participate in research group meetings with supervisor. Participate in presentation of research findings to UQ's research community in a research showcase. Provide reflections to researchers on your experience. The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Additionally, you will demonstrate: Completion of a Year Twelve or Diploma qualification, or a Certificate IV with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. You are either a current student or prospective student at the University of Queensland (UQ). Foundational knowledge of a discipline relevant to the research project. Sound inter-personal and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Self-motivated and ability to prioritise workload to meet research deadlines. A commitment to excellence, are conscientious with a high level of accuracy in work outputs.
