About the role
As Research Integrity Partner Adviser, you will be part of the growing Resolutions team in RIG. This is a brand-new role, in which you will be responsible for working with third parties that we have contracted to help investigate and resolve research integrity concerns in the published record, largely related to image integrity and data integrity concerns. You will oversee the quality of the partner to make sure that each case is handled up to the very high-quality standards we have set for them, to ensure that each research integrity case is investigated thoroughly and resolved appropriately. You will provide constructive feedback to the partner team, driving their productivity while maintaining our high standards as informed by the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Roles Responsibilities Rapidly triage and evaluate research integrity and publication ethics cases across journals, books, and other Springer Nature products, including those handled by third-party partners, applying strong decision quality and scientific comprehension to assess potential legal and reputational risks for all stakeholders. Oversee and quality-check complex and sensitive research integrity cases managed by the partner, and where required, directly investigate cases using a variety of tools, demonstrating the ability to manage complexity and take an action-oriented approach to resolving concerns raised by internal and external stakeholders. Utilize a wide suite of in-house and external investigative tools to assess and validate research integrity concerns, ensuring partner outputs meet required standards of accuracy, completeness, and consistency through strong accountability and attention to detail. Evaluate whether concerns undermine the reliability of the published record and review recommended editorial actions for partner-managed cases, exercising strong decision quality while acting as the primary approver for key milestones, including retractions. Ensure all partner casework is conducted consistently and in alignment with Springer Nature policies, COPE guidelines, and internal Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrating a high level of accountability and governance oversight. Act as the primary escalation point for complex, high-risk, or time-sensitive cases, coordinating effectively with the Research Integrity Partner Manager and wider teams, showcasing strong collaboration and resilience under pressure. Lead regular operational reviews with the partner to discuss case trends, provide feedback and align on expectations, driving continuous improvement and strengthening collaboration to enhance quality and turnaround times.
