About the role
This position is assigned to the Maintenance Division; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). The purpose of this is to perform duties commonly found in a work situation and incidental too many different occupations in MWR, such as grounds maintenance, warehouses, facilities, and rental operations. This involves heavy labor, the use of hand and power tools, operating motor vehicles, towed, and large equipment. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Knowledge of safe and efficient operating techniques of various large equipment and power tools: (Operates a variety of power equipment to include, but not limited to: posthole diggers, blowers, weed eaters, power washers, mowers, box trucks with lift gate, etc.) Ability to safely operate and control riding mowers on slopes which requires constant attention to working in space and environment. Ability to safely operate equipment around buildings, walls, trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, trenches, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles. Ability to operate various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift/lower, adjust, engage/disengage components or attached devices. Knowledge and skill using hand tools and other equipment such as shovels, rakes, hammers, bars, saws, aces, loppers, wrenches, brushes, brooms, ladders, banding equipment and pallet jacks. Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks by following detailed processes which require remembering directions, sequences, following simple drawings, etc. Ability to follow general instructions or read simple drawings to perform tasks requiring significant manual skill. Additional Requirements: Must be able to lift and move objects weighing over 70lbs. Must be able to work indoor and outdoor. Work is preformed outside in all types of weather as well as inside of buildings. Incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, noise, fumes, dirt, dust, grease, and fluids that may cause irritation and possible eclectic shock, scrapes, burns and cuts. Incumbent must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, boots, etc) when required. Other Requirements: Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license. Must have or be able to obtain within the first 60 days of employment the following certifications: First Aid Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Forklift Operator Safe Inflatable Operators Training Organization (SIOTO) Must be able to obtain within the first 90days of employment the following certifications: First Aid, CPR, Forklift OperatorSafe Inflatable Operators Training Organization (SIOTO) You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
