To qualify for this position at the GS-7 grade level, you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Experience demonstrating practical knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, inspection methods, and standards sufficient to perform developmental tasks and recurring assignments in support of a safety program (e.g., participate on inspection teams, identify basic hazards, assist with inspection reports/abatement recommendations, and provide informal safety instruction) . You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 1 full year of graduate level education in a field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to conduct the work of this position such as safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health or another directly related field. Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. . You must include transcripts. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) - You must meet at least one of these criterium: (1) Class Standing - upper third of graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; (2) Grade-point Average - I have a 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on my official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum, or I have a 3.5 or higher based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; (3) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society - must be recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
