Sr. Data Scientist 3 (South Africa)

Responsibilities

• Typically after a year of on the job training, a Data Scientist 3 on the Technical Services team is able to:
• Work closely with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to implement strategic engineering proof of concepts and contribute to technology strategy and engineering roadmaps
• Work with clients and internal partners throughout the organization to identify and execute upon opportunities for demonstrating marketing data to drive business solutions
• Identify new solutions that positively impact internal our customers and internal operations
• Work with the Research Development and Innovation team to develop cutting edge solutions that drive efficiencies, savings or revenue
• Audit existing datasets for accuracy, reliability and consistency
• Work with senior team members to identify data models and algorithms to apply to unique client problems
• Increase and optimize user experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes using predictive modeling and other advanced analysis techniques
• Coordinate with internal and client data engineering teams to implement models and supervise outcomes
• Run technical projects including scope, schedule and resources, tracking progress to ensure successful delivery of project deliverables on time and on budget
• Oversee work completed by junior team members to ensure timely delivery and quality of work, guiding them to implement standard methodologies in solution development and client relationships
• Support digital analytics implementations with broad understanding of tag management, HTML and JavaScript on websites
• Develop applications (visualization, routing data, cleaning data, access to data, interacting with data) for analytics pipelines
• Lead and drive projects assigned to completion with attention to detail and high quality
• Provide technical and developmental support to senior level mentees
• Establish long term relationships with customers in order to gain and cultivate trust (become their Trusted Advisor)
• Provide career development suggestions and support to mentees
• Assist management in team meetings and team planning exercises
• Communicate goals and deadlines to team members
• Assist team in meeting monthly KPIs

The ideal candidate for this key position will possess a natural tendency toward analytical thinking, combined with client-facing consultative communication skills. They will be naturally curious about Generative AI, Agentic AI, data purity, big data analysis, machine learning, and product development, and have demonstrated strengths in data science and data engineering. In addition, this candidate will have a desire to mentor and encourage growth in others and act as leader within the team. Our team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists are responsible for partnering with clients and internal teams to solve complex data-related challenges for some of the biggest brands in the world. We use data discovery and analysis through tools like Google BigQuery, Python Notebooks and Google Data Studio to help our clients create insightful marketing strategies. We live and breathe big data and are passionate about statistics and web application development and testing, and are looking for a like-minded person to join our team. This is not a typical data scientist role. Our work is about consistently solving a multitude of client problems with data engineering, AI, and data science solutions. You'll learn about data engineering pipelines, big data and marketing data sets and apply your understanding of data science and machine learning concepts. You will be our client's hero, achieving daily wins by using marketing segmentation, attribution and propensity modeling to surface sophisticated insights out of marketing data warehouses that you help create. Additionally, you will lead technical projects of various sizes and scope related to our clients' Google Analytics and Google Cloud Platform implementations and ongoing support projects. Our Sr. Data Scientists typically grow their career at Adswerve in one of two directions: tech focus or client / people focus. The tech focus path allows you to solve larger and more complex problems, taking work from clients and turning it into repeatable solutions that we can iterate and improve upon, and scale. The client / people focus path will allow you to grow in project leadership, leading large scale projects and teams of data engineers and data scientists.
