Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-08 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Experience analyzing and planning workload data, recommending priorities and the distribution of resources including labor and equipment, for assigned organizational areas; Experience planning and directing the work of the operation and supervision of employees performing various technical duties. Experience in briefing on policy or procedural changes, as well as preparation of special guidance for process changes that could be difficult to interpret Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Works in both office settings and material storage and movement areas involving moderate risks and/or discomforts requiring special safety precautions. Selects, packs and prepares/stages items for shipment. Operates a forklift and works in areas where hazardous materials are stored. The work requires lifting of relatively heavy objects of approximately 40 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds with assistance and the use of MHE for heavier/larger objects. Work Environment: Much of the work is done in an office setting. However, also works in heated and non-heated warehouses, cold storage areas, receiving & shipping docks, waterfront production areas, on barges, and under adverse weather conditions. They work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. Such agents may include, but are not limited to, fumes, dust noise, heat and chemicals. To ensure employee safety and health, the PNSY maintains personal protection programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personal protective equipment and medical surveillance programs. As part of the surveillance programs, may be required to take medical examinations to determine their qualification for duties involving working around/with these agents.
