Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor will develop, prepare and teach Surgical Services coursework and may be assigned to SF's main Northwest campus or at any of the program's clinical affiliate locations. Additionally, course offerings may be taught during the day, evening, or online. This position will primarily teach laboratory and clinical courses in Surgical Services. The part-time instructional service rate for Information Technology Education, Biotechnology, Central Sterile Processing Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Dental, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Graphic Design and Digital Media programs is $986. Job Description Responsibilities and Duties Include: Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic, laboratory, and/or classroom settings to promote student success within a community college setting. Supports and promotes the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service. Collaborates with the Academic Chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop lesson plans for didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences that facilitate the achievement of program goals. Coordinate, implement and evaluate the clinical education component of the curriculum; (i.e. initiate and maintain clinical affiliate contracts, student clinical rotation placement, clinical affiliate visits and evaluations); ensure effective program operation and compliance with ARC/STSA, SACS, or other regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction. Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team. Assists with the implementation of college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures. Understands and enforces college and program policies. Participates in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed. Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance through formative evaluations using program evaluation methods. Appropriately documents student progress and maintains records including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes. Correlates clinical education with didactic education and evaluates student performance and learning. Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students' progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives. Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment. Assists the Program Director with preparing reports for internal and external audiences. Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Participates in student recruitment and advisement. Participates in meetings and program advisory committee work as designated. Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures. Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
