A licensed financial services company, GXE holds Australian Financial Services Licence 460870 issued by ASIC. GXE supports clients across sectors, including corporate, credit, family offices, pension and superannuation, private equity, property, and venture capital. We are a high growth startup, and we offer an opportunity to join the team to help shape GXE's future. Who we are looking for We are looking for a Senior Fund Accountant to join GXE's growing fund administration team in Melbourne. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys owning fund accounting outcomes across multiple clients, fund structures and asset classes. You will be responsible for delivering accurate fund accounting, management reporting, NAV and unit pricing work, while working closely with clients and internal teams to improve processes as GXE continues to scale. This role would suit someone who has strong fund accounting experience, is comfortable working directly with clients, and enjoys the pace and accountability of a high-growth startup. You will initially operate as an individual contributor, with the opportunity to mentor junior accountants or graduates as the team grows. Key Responsibilities Deliver fund accounting services across multiple GXE clients and fund structures. Prepare monthly management reports, NAV calculations, unit pricing and fund financials. Support client onboarding from a fund accounting perspective, ensuring new clients are set up accurately and efficiently. Maintain accurate accounting records, reconciliations and reporting outputs. Assist with audit preparation and work with external accounting, tax and audit advisors where required. Support compliance-related fund accounting obligations, including reporting, documentation and review processes. Communicate directly with clients, providing clear updates and resolving fund accounting queries. Work closely with GXE's fund administration, operations and product teams to improve workflows and client outcomes. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, templates, controls and reporting standards. Help build scalable accounting practices as GXE grows its client base and fund administration offering. Over time, support the development and mentoring of junior accountants or graduates as the team expands. Success Metrics In the first month, you will have built strong working relationships with your immediate team and the broader GXE team as well as key client stakeholders. You will understand GXE's fund accounting workflows, client base, reporting requirements and current operational challenges. Within three months, you will be independently managing core fund accounting deliverables for assigned clients, including reporting, NAV calculations, reconciliations and audit support. You will also be contributing to smoother client onboarding and reducing pressure on the existing team. Over time, success will be measured by the accuracy and timeliness of fund accounting outputs, the quality of client communication, improved accounting processes, stronger audit readiness, and your contribution to building a scalable fund accounting function at GXE. The team You will report to the Head of Fund Administration, and work closely with the broader client operations and fund administration team. You will also collaborate with Client Operations, other members of the GXE team, and GXE's external accounting advisor. As the accounting team grows, this role may have the opportunity to mentor and support junior accountants or graduates. You have 6-10 years' experience in fund accounting, ideally across private equity, venture capital, property, credit, unit trusts, bare trusts, SPVs or other private market fund structures. Strong experience preparing monthly management reports, NAV calculations, unit pricing and fund financials. Experience supporting audits and working with external advisors, tax teams or auditors. Strong Excel capability, including working with and improving financial models. Experience using Xero or similar accounting platforms. Strong client communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly and professionally.
