Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute RGA's state government relations strategy in alignment with enterprise objectives and risk management priorities.
  • Represent RGA at legislative hearings, regulatory meetings, rulemakings, and other forums, including NAIC national meetings.

  • Prepare and deliver executive‑level briefings, testimony, regulatory comment letters, and policy position statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state lobbying, ethics, disclosure, and pay‑to‑play laws. Uphold RGA's values, reputation, and ethical standards through transparent and principled government engagement.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
  • 10+ Years of progressive experience in government relations, legislative affairs, public policy, or regulatory engagement
  • Significant experience working within a highly regulated industry, preferably insurance or financial services
  • Knowledge of state insurance regulation, regulatory and legislative process, and solvency requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to influence legislative or regulatory outcomes and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders
  • Strong executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven political acumen, sound judgment, and ability to manage sensitive and complex issues

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (JD, MBA, MPA, or equivalent) and relevant professional designations
  • Experience with the Missouri Department of Commerce & Insurance or other relevant Missouri government agencies
  • Experience with the New York Department of Financial Services
  • Experience with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and the Barbados Financial Services Commission
  • Experience supporting insurance or reinsurance organizations
  • Prior experience working in or closely with the NAIC, state legislatures, regulatory agencies, or governors' offices
  • Multi‑state or national government relations leadership experience
