Why Join Us | DuPont Careers This role is a key contributor to the development, validation, and implementation of advanced materials used in the manufacture of water filtration products, with a primary focus on polyurethane potting compounds and associated adhesives. Working closely with R&D and Production, this position supports both ongoing material optimization programs and the development of next-generation materials. The role combines hands-on laboratory work, pilot-scale development, and manufacturing support to ensure robust, scalable solutions are successfully deployed into production. Job Responsibilities: Materials Development & Optimization Develop new and improve existing adhesives, polymers, and potting materials used in water filtration products. Lead and contribute to materials development programs focused on improving mechanical performance, chemical resistance, and long-term durability. Conduct structured material screening, formulation optimization, and validation activities. Testing & Characterization Undertake laboratory-based testing including physical, chemical, and mechanical characterization of materials and water filtration products. Execute experiments to evaluate properties such as strength, swelling, adhesion, and compatibility with membrane materials. Analyze data, interpret results, and assist to prepare present technical reports and presentations. Pilot & Prototype Development Support pilot-scale manufacturing trials and prototyping of new materials and processes. Prepare test articles (e.g. potted modules, test samples) and manage experimental setups. Undertake accelerated lifecycle and durability testing programs. Manufacturing & Scale-Up Support Work closely with production and manufacturing engineering teams to support scale-up and implementation of new materials. Provide support to continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, productivity, and product quality. Supplier & External Collaboration Participate in supplier qualification and material approval processes. Work with external laboratories where required to support material testing, or regulatory compliance and certification of materials used in drinking water applications. Project Contribution Contribute to materials development projects, including execution, and reporting. Support cross-functional R&D initiatives (e.g. new product development, quality improvement programs). Safety & Compliance Maintain safe and compliant laboratory and pilot environments in line with company EHS policies. Apply good laboratory practices in all experimental work. Contribute to risk assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement of safety practices. Job Requirements: Tertiary qualification in Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Experience working in a chemical, materials, or manufacturing environment. Experience with materials development, polymer systems, or adhesives is preferred. Experience supporting production or manufacturing scale-up is advantageous. Understanding of polymeric materials, adhesives, or polyurethane systems. Ability to apply chemical and physical principles to material testing and performance evaluation. Hands-on laboratory experience, with and pilot-scale experience highly regarded. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prepare technical reports. Effective communication skills (written and verbal). Demonstrated initiative, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
