NUS Career Portal link: https://careers.nus.edu.sg/job/Postdoctoral-Fellow-%28Remote-Sensing-of-Agroecosystems%29/33464-en_GB/ We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Job Description The Ecosystem Function Lab (ecofunc.org) in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (https://fass.nus.edu.sg/geog/) is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to study agroecosystems in tropical Asia, primarily using satellite remote sensing. The agroecosystems of interest include row crops such as rice paddies and maize, as well as tree crops such as oil palm and rubber. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate advanced knowledge of remote sensing and plant physiology to improve our understanding of the dynamics of agroecosystems in tropical Asia, their changes over time, and their implications for the regional carbon budget and climate. The ideal candidate should be highly creative, possess strong quantitative and critical-thinking skills, have a working knowledge of plant growth processes and/or the terrestrial carbon cycle, and be able to work effectively in a diverse and interdisciplinary research environment. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance. We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with the candidate's postdoctoral experience and research track record. Duties and Responsibilities The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to: 1. Collect, process, and analyze a variety of remote sensing datasets to generate high-accuracy biophysical and biochemical metrics for agroecosystems across Southeast Asia. 2. Conduct hypothesis-driven research to understand the dynamics of agroecosystems and their responses to environmental change. 3. Lead or support field campaigns to validate remote sensing products, and facilitate communication among collaborating research teams and project partners. 4. Present research findings at international conferences and publish results in leading scientific journals.
