Responsibilities

  • PGCE, CertEd or qualified by experience. QTS/QTLS Preferred.

  • An interest in delivering independent living skills, Duke of Edinburgh/Outdoor Adventure Education and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Professional attitude and appearance.
  • Empathy and understanding of young people who live with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Experience of working with young people with additional needs.
  • Good organisational skills.

Additional Information

Hours: Full Time - 42 hours per week, 45.4 working weeks per year. Cambian Dilston College Cambian Dilston College is a very special place. We offer specialist post-16 educational pathways to special school leavers who are Preparing for Adulthood and hold a current Education Health and Care Plan. Each young person attends college as a residential or day student, and follows a range of technical and vocational pathways to underpin their accredited and non-accredited learning outcomes. YP have a personalised timetable and alongside working on qualifications they are able to access the rural 9-acre college site to run enterprise activities including an onsite café and working bakery and follow Forest School, animal care and horticulture land-based learning activities. This role plans and delivers learning and assessment to small groups and individuals. Learning is scaffolded and logically sequenced to support progress and embed prior learning, allowing personal progress to be acknowledged and recorded routinely. The tutor works closely within a larger teaching team, with teaching assistants and health and social care professionals as well as positive behaviour, nursing and therapy colleagues. We are trauma and therapy informed and use an individual's starting points as a baseline for progress.
