Responsibilities

  • Validation and Testing

  • Analyze memory bandwidth, latency, and storage throughput/IOPS performance.
  • Optimize system performance through tuning firmware, drivers, BIOS settings, and hardware configurations.
  • Provide detailed performance reports and improvement recommendations.
  • Automation and Tool Development
  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and validation scripts (Python, PowerShell, or similar).
  • Integrate testing into continuous validation pipelines where applicable.
  • Improve test coverage and efficiency through scalable automation solutions.
  • Compliance and Certification
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as JEDEC, PCIe, NVMe, and M.2 UFS or SD express specifications.
  • Support platform qualification for regulatory and industry certifications.
  • Work with vendors to validate component compliance and interoperability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with system architects, BIOS/firmware engineers, hardware designers, and product managers.
  • Interface with memory and storage vendors to evaluate new technologies and components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Managing Contractor Engineers
  • Lead and manage several contractor engineers to perform the responsibilities for sections 1 to 6 above.
  • Supervise and evaluate contractor engineers' effort, performance and results.
  • Conduct yearly performance evaluations for contract renewal.

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in hardware validation, preferably in memory and storage subsystems.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • o DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR/LPCAMM2 memory architectures
  • o PCIe, NVMe, M.2 UFS or SD express protocols
  • o BIOS/UEFI and system firmware interactions
  • Experience with:
  • o Validation tools (e.g., MemTest, Iometer, FIO, Intel VROC tools)
  • o Debugging hardware interfaces and signal integrity issues
  • o Scripting/programming (Python, C/C++, or similar)
  • Solid understanding of PC system architecture and platform bring-up.
