Responsibilities

  • A broad comprehension of DC/DC power conversion is required, including familiarity with digital multiphase PWM controllers. Key responsibilities include:
  • Work with senior applications, design and test engineers to validate new digital multiphase controllers and Smart Power Stages to evaluate system-level performance.
  • Work with senior applications engineers and evaluate new algorithms in the lab using a combination of FPGA, Microcontrollers, and custom Analog Front End.
  • Behavioral modeling of DC-DC converters, including IC blocks, using SIMPLIS and/or MATLAB to support the design engineering team with new control architectures.
  • Develop EVBs, including responsibility for component selection, layout, and thermal design
  • Develop collateral such as datasheets, performance reports, and application notes to support customer engagement.
  • This role requires a good understanding of power management, including magnetics, control loop theory, and component selection. Experience in embedded programming and synthesizing Verilog code into FPGA is highly desired.
  • Alternatively, an MS non-thesis option with 2 years of equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Experience with DC/DC converters with a good understanding of multiphase buck converters is a must.
  • Coursework in digital systems, Verilog. Mixed-signal integrated circuits are highly desired.
  • Understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters.
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment, including network analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.
  • Experience with automation of lab testing.
  • Education
  • A New College Graduate (NCG) with an MS or a Ph.D. preferably with a thesis/dissertation focused on power management/power electronics is required.
