Position Title: Adjunct, Theology and Religious Studies Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct one or two courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening in 15 week format, occasionally online. Our primary need for courses in Theology is for the signature core course THE 154: Catholic Theological Tradition. Other courses available for adjunct staffing may include: - New Testament - Catholic Social Ethics - Theology and Science - Saint Joseph's University (SJU) offers a wide variety of bachelor's, master's, doctoral, associate and certifi cate programs. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound to the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph's University, including but not limited to the Faculty Handbook. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide support and guidance to students Instruct an assigned course providing syllabi and other instructional materials Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction Teaching of specified courses either in person or online Keeping posted office hours (1 hr per course) Giving prompt, regular feedback to students about their academic performance Reporting mid-semester and final grades electronically
