Telecommunications Specialist

About the role

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to deploy, install, integrate, operate, and maintain of a large variety of wide and narrow band radio frequency (RF) systems, with their associated ancillary equipment (antenna, remote control computers, adaptive bandwidth multiplexers, modems, and fiber optic transmission systems) at strategic and tactical locations. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Installing, monitoring and maintaining telecommunications systems for data, voice and video; AND Providing technical input for system development and improvements; AND Providing technical advice at meetings or conferences concerning voice, data, and video telecommunications systems, system integration, deployment, installation, upgrade, modification, and operation. To qualify for this position at the GS-13 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Installing, monitoring and maintaining telecommunications systems for data, voice and video; AND Providing technical input for system development and improvements; AND Providing technical advice at meetings or conferences concerning voice, data, and video telecommunications systems, system integration, deployment, installation, upgrade, modification, and operation; AND Evaluating system performance against mission requirements to recommend equipment acquisitions, modifications, and configuration changes.
