Responsibilities
- Assist with the ongoing engineering and technical support of the NWA and NPA
- group through:
- Working closely with Engineer and Lead Analyst to investigate, configure scenarios, and run models that can help to identify NWA/NPA technologies to address system needs.
- Supporting NWA/NPA procurement activities which may include:
- RFP Development
- Developer Q&A
- Developer Selection
- Other activities
- Provide technical support for NWA/NPA Engineer to create technical and business case support to NWA and Distribution Planning group to facilitate the incorporation projects within Integrated System Planning (ISP) model.
- Assist with determining the correction of circuit electrical operating deficiencies, etc. Conduct capacity analyses of key substation equipment.
- Support the development of process improvements for identifying NWA/NPA as well as the suitability screening process' for NWA/NPA programs.
- Assist with maintaining and updating the BCA handbooks and spreadsheets to calculate benefits for NWA/NPA projects.
- Skills and Requirements
- Education & Experience Required:
- BS or BT degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required. Additional consideration is given to applicants with Advanced Degrees or Certifications (e.g. MSEE, PE, etc.)
- 0 - 2 years of experience (industry related)
- Knowledge of electric distribution system design and modeling
- Knowledge of gas distribution system design and modeling
- Basic knowledge of engineering theories, practices, and procedures.
- Able to work in a team environment and learn key business processes.
- Preference given to previous experience working with and across functional departments including electric engineering, gas engineering, operations, energy control center, etc.
- Quantitative skills with complex modeling; preference given to previous benefit/cost modeling experience.
- Basic understanding of utility operations and positive stakeholder interactions, with experience working with and across functional departments (Projects, Regulatory, Investment Plan, Distribution & Transmission Planning, others).
- Interest in sustainability and emergent utility technologies.
- Desire to support advancement of New York's clean energy & climate goals.

Job Title: Associate Engineer - Non-Wire Alternative In Office: NY Rochester or NY Binghamton The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $72400 to $90,600
