Job Description Make an impact with your underwriting or loan processing expertise at the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), your knowledge can make a difference. As a PreClosing Officer, you'll use your expertise in government and conventional loan programs to ensure accuracy, compliance and quality of every loan received from our lending partners. Your work will directly support our mission of expanding affordable homeownership across Pennsylvania. Review residential mortgage loan files submitted by PHFA approved lenders prior to closing to ensure they meet all program, investor and underwriting guidelines including FHA, VA, RD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae. Confirm each loan package is complete, accurate and saleable to PHFA. Evaluate documentation for loans suspended or approved with conditions, ensuring issues are properly resolved prior to closing. Collaborate with lenders and internal teams to resolve complex underwriting and documentation questions quickly and accurately. Serve as a resource for network lenders and business partners by providing guidance on PHFA's programs and investor requirements. Maintain current knowledge of agency and investor updates, mortgage regulations and secondary market trends. Participate in team discussions to identify process improvements and best practices that enhance loan quality and efficiency. Perform special assignments and other duties as assigned by Homeownership leadership This position is based in Harrisburg, PA with potential for hybrid teleworking as determined by PreClosing Manager.
