About the role

Exeter College is seeking to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Pre-Clinical Medicine (Physiology & Pharmacology). This is a fixed-term role, tenable from 1 October 2026 - 30 September 2027. The Lecturer will be required to undertake 144 'weighted' hours of tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates for the college (or, by exchange, undergraduates of other colleges) during the period of the appointment. In addition, they will be required to set and mark college examinations, to provide pastoral care to students reading for the BA in Medical Sciences and the BA or MBioMed in Biomedical Sciences, and to participate fully in the running of Medicine and its related subjects within the college. The Lecturer must be able to give tutorials and revision classes on the following topics as a minimum: First year: 1 st BM Part 1 Physiology and Pharmacology, and related parts of Biomedical Sciences Prelims (Molecules, Cells, Body) Second year: 1 st BM Part 2 Applied Physiology and synoptic teaching. Third year: FHS tutorials through the College exchange scheme (eg via the Cardiovascular Science Option) and support for Papers 2 and 3. The ability to teach additional papers would be an advantage but is not essential. The salary will be within the range of £16,905 - £18,669 per annum.
