The primary purpose of this position is to serve as historian at a large, multi-facet Air Force wing, center, or similar self-contained organization that services rapidly evolving high-tech and/or administrative units and tenants that can include joint and allied military agencies. Conditions of Employment Continued: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security Clearance. This position is designated Special Sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. This position is emergency-essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall status. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment. The incumbent must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations and required physical fitness/physical agility tests. The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements. Selectee must meet requirements specified on SF 78, Certificate of Medical Examination for position at overseas/deployed locations due to the following. The duties of this position require moderate physical exertion involving walking and standing, possible use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or others is disqualifying. The theater commander may specify theater unique medical/physical deployability criteria. Emergency Essential / deployment related medical /dental/ psychological examinations and required immunizations are at no expense to the employee. Must attend and successfully complete the Historian Training Course within 9 months of being hired. Must obtain and maintain a government travel card. This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
