PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of this job is to support Underwriters within the Service Center of Excellence through account management, policy processing, and policy issuance activities. This position provides exceptional customer service while ensuring Workers' Compensation and Commercial Lines policies are processed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports Underwriters through account management and policy processing activities. Process new business, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements in accordance with company guidelines. Maintains organized electronic files and policy documentation. Reviews and enters policy information into underwriting systems to ensure accuracy and completeness. Issues policies, endorsements, and related documents in accordance with company procedures. Assists with gathering and validating information necessary for underwriting decisions. Provides customer service to clients. Serves as the first point of contact for customer inquiries during the account life cycle. Handles correspondence for additional account information. Assists producers via email and phone calls. Provides administrative support to Underwriting staff. Handles agent and insured phone calls, faxes, and mail. Orders loss runs requested by agents and insureds and sends via fax, email, or mail. Prepares and mails claims kits and marketing materials requested by agents and insureds. Assists with policy issuance and document delivery to agents and insureds. Coordinates follow-up on outstanding underwriting requirements and documentation. Suggestion: Collaboration & Customer Service Partner with Business Development Underwriters (BDUs), Premium Audit, Billing, Claims, and Risk Management teams Communicate with agents and occasionally insureds to support policy servicing Build strong working relationships across departments to ensure seamless operations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This role does not have supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of underwriting support, insurance operations, agency, brokerage, or carrier experience required. Two or more years of insurance industry experience preferred. Experience supporting Commercial Lines and/or Workers' Compensation business preferred, including exposure to Property, General Liability, Commercial Auto, and Workers' Compensation coverages. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required. Associate in insurance (AINS), Associate in Underwriting (AU), or other relevant insurance designation preferred. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Strong verbal communication skills, detail orientation, and a motivation to deliver to the customer. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and tools Knowledge of insurance policy processing and issuance workflows. Understanding of Commercial Lines and/or Workers' Compensation insurance products. Proficiency with underwriting and policy administration systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Office environment - no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.
