About the role
Tameside Supported Housing Service (SHS) is a 24-hour mental health and community-based service working to a recovery model . We provide a range of flexible support options, including outreach, tenancy support, peer support, and supported housing , to adults aged 18 and over who are on their journey to recovery and independence. One of our key services, Boston Bank , is a 24/7 supported housing service for women , offering five self-contained flats alongside shared communal areas such as a lounge, kitchen, and conservatory. Our focus is on empowering women in their recovery journey, helping them build confidence, develop essential life skills, and move towards independent living.
Responsibilities
- As a Recovery Worker , you'll play a vital role in helping and inspiring the people who use our services to:
- Maintain their tenancy and develop independent living skills.
- Build confidence and resilience through personalised support planning.
- Develop practical skills such as budgeting, cooking, and household management.
- Access work, education, volunteering, and leisure opportunities in the community
- You'll work both independently and as part of a supportive team, ensuring each individual receives tailored, compassionate care that supports their unique recovery goals.
- To Succeed in This Role, You'll Need:
- No previous experience is required - full training will be provided . More important is your empathy, compassion, and enthusiasm for supporting others to live fulfilling lives.
- We welcome applications from those with an understanding of mental health issues or lived experience of recovery . You'll need to be comfortable working as part of a rotating 24-hour shift pattern and taking part in on-call duties .
