About the role

As an Airport Mechanic I, you will perform entry-level maintenance support and utility duties throughout Amarillo International Airport. This position assists Airport Mechanic III personnel with routine maintenance activities while performing general facility support tasks such as trash removal, terminal cleaning, contractor escorts, parts delivery, bird control, changing air handler filters, replacing light bulbs, and other basic maintenance duties. Must meet city qualifications.City health plansundefinedEssential Responsibilities:Assist Airport Mechanic III personnel with inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Airport equipment such as baggage handling equipment, car wash equipment, and tenant leased buildings.Acts as a first responder in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan during airfield emergencies by providing support and escorts for fire, medical, law enforcement and operations activities. Participates with recovery efforts so air carrier operations can resume.Monitor the condition of Airport mechanical equipment and facilities, report deficiencies to Airport Mechanic III personnel, and assist with maintenance and repair activities under supervision.Perform daily utility duties throughout Airport facilities including trash removal, cleaning designated terminal areas, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.Provide contractor escorts in secured and restricted areas in accordance with Airport security procedures.Serve as a parts runner by delivering tools, materials, and supplies to maintenance personnel throughout the Airport.Assist with bird control activities on the airfield under established Airport procedures.Replace air handler filters and perform other basic preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.Replace interior and exterior light bulbs and report lighting deficiencies requiring additional repairs.Assist with basic HVAC maintenance including changing air filters and monitoring equipment operation.Perform minor plumbing repairs such as unclogging toilets and drains.Assist Airport Electricians with basic electrical maintenance and repairs under direct supervision.Participate in snow removal operations during winter operations.Completing work orders, PM's and documenting work completed.Other duties as assigned and as needed.undefinedMinimum Requirements:A high school diploma or equivalent.Must be able to be trained and qualified to drive on an active airfield within 60 days of employment and be able to pass recurrent training every 12 months.Must be able to work with minimal or no direct supervision.Often the individual is the only staff on-site and could be solely responsible for the maintenance operation of the entire Airport, including the baggage handling system, passenger boarding bridges and airside operation.One (1) year of building and facility maintenance experience.Apprentice level experience in mechanical and electrical repairs.Possession of a valid Class C driver's license. Class B preferred.Must pass a 10-year background check in accordance with TSA regulations and drug/alcohol screening.Must complete FEMA N.I.M.S. training within 30 days of employment.Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Must be able to learn and understand how to adhere to FAA, TSA, and State regulations.Must be able to understand and adhere to responsibilities in accordance with the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Airport Security Plan, and the Airport Snow and Ice Control Plan.
