About the role

Responsibilities
- Working as part of a small on-site maintenance team, you will:
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the hospice, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and basic electrical work
- Support the planned preventative maintenance programme, ensuring records are accurate and up to date
- Assist with the upkeep of buildings, equipment, utilities, vehicles and grounds
- Perform routine safety checks, including fire alarms and equipment testing
- Help maintain specialist facilities such as the spa/Jacuzzi and external play equipment
- Support contractors on site and step in when required in the absence of the Site Manager
- Undertake occasional driving duties, including transporting supplies or equipment
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with health & safety standards and CHSW policies
- About you
- We're looking for someone who is hands-on, organised and committed to high standards.
- You will have:
- Experience across a range of general maintenance skills (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, decorating)
- A good understanding of health & safety practices and record keeping
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly
- A proactive, flexible and positive approach to work
- The ability to manage your workload and respond to changing priorities
- A full UK driving licence (essential)
- Ideally, you will also hold a relevant trade or health & safety qualification.
