About the role

You will serve as a FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of COMNAVREG MIDLANT NORFOLK. GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrates expert knowledge of program management processes and procedures to include experience in identifying and prioritizing fire prevention and code occupational requirements for sustainment of mission needs; 2) Possesses thorough knowledge of national, DoD, Navy & local fire codes, standards, regulations, and instructions in order to interpret and apply applicable codes to detect and eliminate fire & life safety hazards; 3) Uses skills in selecting the applicable code or standard relevant to particular types of facilities and hazards, type of construction and other variables; 4) Analyzes and interprets codes & standards to make compliance determinations; 5) Possesses clear oral communication and public speaking skills which are required in order to provide fire and life safety training and events; 6) Possesses skills in writing reports, case notes, briefings, instructions & regulations, and written correspondence; and 7) Demonstrates knowledge in post-fire investigation cause and origination techniques and theory. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:1) Demonstrates knowledge of program management processes and procedures to include experience in identifying and prioritizing fire prevention and code occupational requirements for sustainment of mission needs; 2) Possesses thorough knowledge of national, DoD, Navy & local fire codes, standards, regulations, and instructions in order to interpret and apply applicable codes to detect and eliminate fire & life safety hazards; 3) Uses skills in selecting the applicable code or standard relevant to particular types of facilities and hazards, type of construction and other variables; 4) Analyzes and interprets codes & standards to make compliance determinations; 5) Possesses clear oral communication and public speaking skills which are required in order to provide fire and life safety training and events; 6) Possesses skills in writing reports, case notes, briefings, instructions & regulations, and written correspondence; and 7) Demonstrates knowledge in post-fire investigation cause and origination techniques and theory. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Position is either a 40 hour / 80 hour bi-weekly or a 56 hour / 112 hour bi-weekly work schedule based on candidate certification(s) and eligibility: - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Firefighter I & II (Required for 56 hr work week) - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Instructor II - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Inspector II - IFSAC, ProBoard, DoD Fire Inspector III or New 2025 NFPA 1030 IFSAC, ProBoard, DOD Fire Inspector (Required for GS12. GS11 must obtain within 1 year) - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Fire Officer III - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD HazMat Awareness - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD HazMat Operations (Required for 56 hr work week) - IFSAC, ProBoard or DoD Plans Examiner I (Required for GS12.
