Janitor

Requirements

• Education:
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2-3 years of experience in janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or facility cleaning services preferred
• Experience operating commercial cleaning equipment is a plus
• Knowledge:
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation standards, and safe chemical handling procedures
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Reliable attendance and dependability
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and tools
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Basic problem-solving skills and ability to identify maintenance or safety concerns

Job Summary This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility by performing routine janitorial and custodial duties. The Janitor supports daily facility operations by ensuring all workspaces, restrooms, common areas, and building interiors are consistently clean, organized, and presentable for employees, visitors, and customers. This role utilizes skills in cleaning procedures, time management, organization, communication, teamwork, and safe handling of cleaning equipment and supplies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and carpets Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as needed Clean windows, mirrors, fixtures, and other surfaces Maintain cleanliness of entrances, walkways, and exterior areas as assigned Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the Facility Manager Follow all company safety procedures and proper chemical handling guidelines Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively Support special cleaning projects and facility setups as needed Ensure janitorial closets and storage areas remain clean and organized Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required. Internal and External Relationships Facility Manager Operations and administrative staff Employees and visitors throughout the facility External vendors or maintenance contractors as needed
