About the role

This is a position in the Clinical Center Nursing Department Sterile Processing Service (SPS) as a Lead Medical Supply Technician in the Clinical Center, Nursing Department (CCND). The Lead will serve as the subject matter expert to guide staff through the proper procedures. The incumbent will provide guidance and technical direction for accomplishing the team's work. In order to qualify for a Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) position at the GS-08 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: processes, assembles, and performs all phases of sterilization for intricate surgical trays and microsurgery instruments for the operating room trays contain large numbers of unique, non-interchangeable, specialized surgical instruments. Decontaminating reusable medical supplies and equipment, using aseptic and sterilization techniques on medical equipment and instruments; compare medical equipment control test results after sterilization period to ensure correct parameters were obtained; testing medical equipment to determine if it is operating correctly after having been cleaned and reassembled, and examining sterilized trays, sets, packs, and equipment from the sterilizer to ensure adherence to organizational manufacturing quality control procedures.
