About the role

The Capitalization (CapEx) Systems Owner is accountable for the end-to-end ownership, stability, governance, and continuous improvement of the enterprise capitalization system. This role serves as the single point of accountability for system performance, issue resolution, enhancement prioritization, and production integrity. The position holds authority over incident resolution, enhancement approval, testing validation, deployment readiness, and long-term corrective actions. The role ensures the platform supports accurate capitalization treatment and complies with internal policy and accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own overall health, stability, and performance of the Capitalization system.
  • Serve as primary business authority for system-related decisions.
  • Ensure system outputs align with accounting policy and financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead and own resolution of all system incidents from intake through permanent resolution.
  • Own CapEx system enhancement backlog and prioritization.
  • Translate business and accounting requirements into structured functional specifications.
  • Define UAT standards and acceptance criteria.
  • Personally validate high-risk or financially impactful changes.
  • Lead recurring governance forums and operational reviews.
  • Provide executive-level visibility into system risks and performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise financial systems ownership or product ownership, IT governance, system implementation, or business systems leadership.
  • Experience leading UAT and production releases required.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, or comparable ticketing tools required.
  • Ownership & Accountability - Takes full responsibility for system performance and resolution outcomes.
  • Decision Authority - Exercises independent judgment on release readiness and risk mitigation.
  • Governance & Controls Orientation - Ensures documentation, validation, and compliance standards are met.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Business Technology, or related field.
  • Experience with capitalization, fixed assets, or accounting operations strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ITIL-based incident and change management frameworks preferred.
  • Financial Acumen - Understands capitalization principles and financial control implications.
  • Strategic Problem Solving - Identifies systemic weaknesses and drives structural improvements.
