Requirements

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of managing food safety and quality in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field
  • Knowledge of retail food code and regulations governing grocery retail at local, state, and federal levels
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience handling confidential information
  • Experience interacting with local food safety regulators
  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

Amazon's Books Risk and Policy team is looking for a Program Manager who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to help shape how AI-powered risk tools come to life. As a Program Manager on the Books Risk and Policy team, you will support and execute launch readiness efforts for Policy and large language model (LLM) initiatives that directly support Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) risk operations. You will translate complex initiatives into clear, actionable documentation that guides teams through high-stakes launches and changes. You will contribute to scalable processes that mitigate risk while flexing across the broader risk vertical as business needs evolve. This role sits within the Training, Launch, Content (TLC) organization and works at the crossroads of policy, technology, and operations. You will partner with Product Managers, Policy SMEs, Science, ML engineers, automation teams, and Ops workflow leads to translate technical and policy requirements into clear, operational guidance. Your growing business acumen will support timely decisions in ambiguous situations, while your data-driven approach ensures content and process effectiveness through metrics and direct feedback. Key job responsibilities Key job responsibilities - Support the definition of reviewer use cases and processes for new products, tools, policies, or business and risk launches - Drive content projects through their entire lifecycle - Develop clear, concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Support defect reduction and risk mitigation strategies - Use data analysis to make content and process decisions - Execute strategies to improve content and process accuracy, quality, and usability - Build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders - Support the Sr. Program Manager with program-related responsibilities - Communicate effectively to Manager and Director-level stakeholders A day in the life Your day might start with a review of a launch readiness checklist for an upcoming LLM policy update, followed by a cross-functional sync with Product Managers, ML engineers and ops leads to align on rollout timelines. In the afternoon, you might draft or refine an SOP for a new enforcement process using AI tools to accelerate documentation, then close out by pulling metrics to assess the impact of a recently launched program. No two days look exactly the same, but every day, you will see the direct connection between your work and the integrity of the Amazon Books store.
