NYCERS offers a hybrid work environment with partial onsite work and partial telework. Job Description: The Finance Division is seeking an Assistant Supervisor in the Banking Operations Unit. The Banking Operations unit processes all non-periodic (all payments except pensions) outflows, EFT and checks for loans, refunds, death benefits, payments to vendors, and other authorized payments; and maintains NYCERS' banking relationships. The Assistant Supervisor has direct supervisory responsibilities and will perform the following duties: - Directly oversee a team of 3-4 staff members: approve leave, evaluate performance, maintain supervisory notes, keep the supervisor abreast of changes, work functions, needs, and take action to correct inappropriate behavior - Execute the printing process for all non-periodic payments - Maintain non-periodic tax files including reconciliations, year-end issuance of the 1099R, and corrected 1099R - Process cancellations for checks and EFT credits returned by the Bank for non-periodic accounts - Identify work processes across units that can be streamlined or automated, implement initiatives to improve efficiency, foster an environment conducive to continuous improvement, and handle conflict fairly and sensitively - Anticipate and organize unit needs, evaluate and allocate resources, and participate in change initiatives by implementing new directions and providing appropriate feedback - Encourage, support, and coordinate team members to participate in the agency's modernization project; adhere to, promote, implement, and reinforce NYCERS Mission, Vision, and Values ADMINISTRATIVE RETIREMENTS BEN - 8298C 1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting, and/or actuarial science and four years of satisfactory full-time experience implementing the provisions of a retirement plan involving the use of mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising professionals implementing the provisions of a retirement plan involving the use of mathematical, statistical, actuarial or accounting computations; or 2. An associate degree or 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and six years of satisfactory full-time experience as indicated in "1"; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have 60 credits from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by 12 credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting and/or actuarial science and the 18 months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, managerial or executive capacity as described in "1" above.
