Responsibilities

  • Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
  • Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
  • Prepack bulk medicines, fill bottles with prescribed medications, and type and affix labels.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) High school graduate Required
  • Pharmacy experience Preferred
  • Computer experience Preferred
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days Preferred
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Preferred
  • National Certified Pharmacy Tech Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) (United States of America) within 1 Year Required or
  • National Certified Pharmacy Tech National Healthcareer Association (NHA) (United States of America) within 1 Year Required
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech Iowa Board of Pharmacy (United States of America) within 1 Year Required
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician Trainee Iowa Board of Pharmacy (United States of America) Upon Hire Required
  • The Certified Pharmacy Technician Trainee will be required to have this certificate upon hire and are required to obtain the Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate within 1 year of hire, both issued by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
  • If a Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate is already obtained by the date of hire, issued by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, the Certified
  • Pharmacy Technician Trainee certification is not necessary.
  • Maintains valid licensure/certification/registration through the Iowa Board of Pharmacy is required.
  • Registered by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
  • Nationally certified required within one year of hire if not already certified (at employee's expense).
  • May require additional competencies based on accreditation, including Specialty Pharmacy.

Minimum Hiring Wage: From $18.89 per hour Job Details: Scheduled Hours: Monday - Friday, Day Shift Job Description: A Brief Overview Works under direct supervision of pharmacists performing clerical tasks, drug distribution activities, computerized order entry, and other medication management duties as authorized by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiner's laws, rules and regulations. Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. May measure, mix, and count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications. May review and document patient's arrival medication assuring appropriate dose, route, frequency and duration of therapy.
