About the role
Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC),or mobile medical unit. GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Collects a wide range of lab specimens and prepares them for transfer to the lab for processing. Takes vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.); Documents in the Electronic Health Record actions, interventions, and procedures using appropriate templates and tools; Performs 12-Lead EKG; Administers intramuscular, oral, topical, eye drops, ear drops, intranasal, rectal suppositories, local anesthetics, nebulized medications, subcutaneous and intradermal; Assists patient with mobility utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment. OR Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-07 level. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have One full year of Graduate education where it is directly related to the work of the position. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
