Description of Work The Educational Development Assistant (EDA) serves to lead the facilitation of activities both in the homes as well as in the Educational Enrichment Centers. This position provides educational enrichment activities specific to each resident's capabilities, supervision and support for the Educational Enrichment Centers and the staff who attend with their residents. The EDA assists with instruction and group activities for residents and their support staff within the assigned Division during early mornings and lunchtime, as well as transportation to and from the Educational Enrichment Centers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day instruction and activities, schedule adherence, activity sanitation and rotation and other program organizational functions in their assigned area. The daily functions include initiating assigned activities, leading, monitoring, motivating participation and oversight of activities as well as modeling therapeutic relationship techniques for home staff while at the Educational Enrichment Centers. The Educational Development Assistant documents relevant information about participation, provides feedback to the Lead EDA, EPA, and Teachers to facilitate participation, enjoyment, progress and independence of the residents. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $31,200.00 - $48,810.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Experience in education settings with extensive instructional knowledge, reinforcement strategies to encourage resident participation and success and practical application of behavioral programming techniques. Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, sensory processing issues, behavioral challenges including those that are secondary to individuals with autism, and the ability to build and maintain positive, encouraging therapeutic relationships with the population served and the staff who work with them. Ability to instruct, support participation and effectively model; Ability to work cooperatively, independently and with a team and the ability and willingness to follow established regulations and policies with minimum supervision. Possess excellent interpersonal skills to work together with residents and support staff and effectively communicate with a variety of service disciplines to share information of instructional outcomes and observed behaviors. Management Preference : Successful completion of CPI and CPR. Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Other: Pushing, Walking, Lifting and Standing for inside and outside activities. Occasional Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Pulling, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions, and Visual Acuity. This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
