The Technology, AI & Automation Intern will support Acadia Europe by contributing hands-on technical expertise to identify, prototype, and deliver technology-enabled improvements across the European organization. This internship is planned for a duration of 2-4 months and is intended to provide targeted, project-based support outside of the standard intern program framework. The role is designed to bring current external perspectives on AI and automation into Acadia Europe, while enabling the intern to gain structured exposure to the pharmaceutical business. The intern will contribute cross-functionally to understanding business processes and deliver tangible, value-adding outputs aligned with Acadia's ways of working and compliance requirements. The position is paid and based in Baar (ZG), Switzerland. We are only able to consider students enrolled at Swiss learning institutions with valid work/stay permits. This internship provides hands-on exposure to applying AI and automation in a real-world pharmaceutical setting. The intern will gain insight into cross-functional operations, regulatory considerations, and decision-making processes, with the opportunity to focus more deeply on selected functions based on project scope. Primary Responsibilities: Design, prototype, and test automation and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, quality, or speed of work across functions. This may include workflow automation, reporting automation, data handling, or AI-assisted analysis. Apply up-to-date knowledge of AI, automation, and emerging technologies to identify relevant and feasible use cases within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. Work with multiple functions (e.g., Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Operations, HR, Finance, IT) to understand workflows, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Identify, scope, and deliver small to mid-sized projects with clear business value. Develop proof-of-concepts, prototypes, solution designs, or implementation recommendations. Communicate technical concepts, progress, and outcomes clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Present findings and recommendations in a structured manner. Participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and strategic discussions to gain exposure to business operations and contribute insights where appropriate. Demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and alignment with company values in all interactions. Completes a capstone project or final presentation summarizing internship contributions and key learnings. Education/Experience/Skills: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with hands-on interest in AI, automation, and technology-enabled process optimization. Prior internship, leadership experience, campus involvement, or project-based work preferred. Ability to translate business problems into practical technical solutions. Experience or familiarity with automation tools, scripting, data analysis, AI/ML concepts, or low-code/no-code platforms is an advantage. Structured, analytical mindset with the ability to work independently. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions. Fluency in English Ability to travel (if needed) Interest in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry strongly preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word , Outlook ) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
