Responsibilities

- Participating in ACC activities, including pre-submission veterinary protocol review, post-approval monitoring
- Providing consistent, evidence-based veterinary expertise to support ACC review and decision-making
- Providing expert guidance on veterinary care, husbandry, and model development to support high-quality research outcomes
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and institutional requirements
- Assisting the ARC Directors with administrative and operational functions as needed
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine
- Board certification or eligibility and asset, but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented approach
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with investigators, staff, and colleagues, exercising sound judgment and responsiveness
- Participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours, weekend, and holiday coverage for veterinary emergencies
- Familiarity with the Animals for Research Act and the guidelines and policies of the Canadian Council on Animal Care

Facilities include integrated multi-modal imaging, behavioural testing suites, and surgical operating rooms, supporting work with a wide range of laboratory animal species. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Director, Veterinary Services, Animal Resource Centre.
