Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Pasquotank Correctional Institution is a Close/Minimum facility housing male inmates. This position is responsible for providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. This position is responsible for conducting investigations and performs searches of people, places and objects. Responsible for completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty roster, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms. Make security inspections of the facility and grounds; monitors posts to ascertain that officers are alert, that discipline is being maintained, and that assignments are carried out properly. Perform rescue functions to include CPR, basic first aid, physically removing people from dangerous areas and using firefighting equipment to include fire hoses, extinguishers and breathing apparatus. Responsible for identifying training needs and coordinates delivery of training to subordinate staff. Accounts for people and funds and ensures that all equipment is operationally ready for use. This position works closely with and reports directly to the Correctional Captain III. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences: Salary Range: 45,431 -$79,504 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: - Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility - Knowledge of facility operations - Knowledge of Prisons' policy and procedures - Documented report writing skills This job posting will close at 11:59 pm, the night before the end date listed above. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
