Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and company environmental standards
- Conduct routine environmental field and records inspections related to air, water, waste, mining, and material handling
- Perform environmental monitoring and sampling using basic field equipment (e.g., DO meters, water level indicators, water sampling tools)
- Document and analyze environmental data, inspections, and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records and files for regulatory inspections, audits, and internal reporting
- Support site environmental programs such as project coordination, hazardous waste determinations and compliance, and visual air emissions inspections
- Contribute to continuous improvement such as field audits and automation of routine activities
- Prepare and distribute environmental documentation for internal teams, customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies
- Provide guidance to plant personnel on environmental procedures and best practices
- Assist with environmental third-party audits and agency inspections
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and environmental compliance goals
- What Are We Looking For
- Associate's degree in environmental science, Biology, Engineering, or related field, required. Bachelors degree preferred.
- Basic knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory concepts
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to maintain good relationships with colleagues and agency inspectors
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Conditions of Employment
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check
- Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing
- Work Environment
- Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
