About the role
You will serve as a PRODUCTION SAFETY MANAGER in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. ***TEMPORARY PROMOTION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR AND MAY BECOME PERMANENT without further competition*** GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience conducting inspections, investigating mishaps, and evaluating Safety Program implementation in a wide variety of complex Shipyard work operations and work centers, to identify and evaluate Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) hazards, and ensure action is taken to eliminate the hazards. * Experience with the interrelationship between nuclear and nonnuclear requirements, to assess potential impact when conducting surveillances and trend studies. * Experience using office automation systems and processes, computer applications, principles, and techniques, including developing and implementing new automated systems for control and support of interrelated program operations. * Experience applying complex analytical and problem-solving methods to identify interrelated program problems, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action. * Experience applying oral and written communication skills to present evaluations and recommendations regarding complex issues pertaining to the Safety Program. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience evaluating, analyzing, and developing recommendations for improvement in the operations and objectives of a Safety Program. * Experience identifying leading indicators for surveillance to develop metrics to drive continual improvements in the Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental (OSHE) performance. * Experience performing timely mishap and accident investigations. * Experience recommending hazard controls and safety process improvements to reduce the potential for future occurrences.
