If you have an interest in working in the mental health sector and making a positive difference, we have a fantastic opportunity to join our specialist DORS Team as a Mental Health Support Worker. Based in our specialist discharge service, you will be working with our multi-disciplinary team to support individuals in their first six weeks post-discharge, working alongside vulnerable clients to avoid hospital re-admission where possible. Car owners/drivers are essential due to the travel involved in the Burgess Hill/Sussex area. About the Role This Mental Health Support Worker role is in place to support individuals managing and/or recovering from mental health crisis. It is incredibly fast paced, working with individuals for up to 6 weeks, you therefore must be flexible and adaptable, able to think on your feet and react well to change. It is desirable for you to have existing experience and/or qualifications; however, we are looking for people who share our vision so please get in touch for more information. This role would suit candidates looking to continue a career as a specialist support worker, recovery worker, care worker, care assistant, or similar role. Working hours are usually Monday to Friday but there is flexibility required based on client needs, involving occasional weekend work. Monthly workshops with our Clinical Team as well as access to our library of previous sessions Requirements Essential Skills Previous experience, ideally Mental Health/LD/Neurodiverse support Ability to positively address and challenge inappropriate or negative behaviours and attitudes Experience of using therapeutic de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques Able to respond to changes in an individual's needs and meet deadlines To encourage and manage participation and involvement from the people we support Computer literate, with confidence in using Microsoft office programmes
