Responsibilities

  • Make timely, well informed credit decisions that balance business growth with responsible risk management for new and existing merchant applications.
  • Drive portfolio quality by evaluating financial information, credit data and supporting documentation to identify opportunities and potential risks.
  • Influence sound underwriting decisions by applying risk based thinking, company policies and regulatory requirements with consistency and accuracy.
  • Protect the business by identifying fraud indicators, assessing credit exposure and escalating higher risk applications with clear, evidence based recommendations.
  • Build confidence across the business by delivering clear, accurate and well documented credit decisions that meet audit and compliance standards.
  • Create positive experiences for merchants and internal partners through responsive communication, trusted expertise and timely decision making.
  • Deliver strong business outcomes by managing competing priorities while consistently achieving service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing insights, embracing new challenges and supporting initiatives that strengthen underwriting practices and operational excellence.
  • What you bring
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in credit, underwriting, banking, finance or risk analysis.
  • At least two years of experience making credit or underwriting decisions in a finance, banking or risk focused environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, tax returns, credit bureau reports and other financial documentation to make informed decisions.
  • Experience applying sound judgment within established policies while balancing risk, compliance and business objectives.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, validation and reporting.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to evaluate documentation accurately and maintain high quality standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills that enable you to build trusted relationships and explain decisions with confidence.
  • It's a bonus if you have
  • Experience assessing fraud risk or underwriting merchant accounts within the payments industry.
  • Intermediate English proficiency that enables you to collaborate effectively across global teams.
  • A track record of improving underwriting processes or contributing ideas that enhance quality, efficiency or risk management.
