Founded in 1793, BCHD is the oldest health department in the country, with over 800 employees and an annual budget of $208 million, that aims to protect health, eliminate disparities, and ensure the well-being of every resident of Baltimore through education, advocacy, and direct service delivery. BCHD's wide-ranging responsibilities include maternal and child health, youth wellness, school health, senior services, animal control, restaurant inspections, violence prevention, emergency preparedness, STI/HIV treatment, and acute and chronic disease prevention. The Commissioner Bureau of School Health will direct, plan, and coordinate all clinical and administrative operations of the Bureau of School Health, including oversight of both the School Health Suites Program and the School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Program. This position is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of comprehensive, school-based healthcare services through a workforce of approximately 250 healthcare professionals serving more than 77,000 students across over 165 Baltimore City Public Schools. Essential Functions This position will develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and operational guidelines governing all Bureau of School Health programs, consistent with State and Federal requirements. This position will also serve as a serve as the Departmental representative for all nursing-related matters, including representation to the State of Maryland Public Health Nursing Directors organization, BOE and public meetings.
