We are looking for a System Architecture co-op to join our Land C5ISR Architecture team in Calgary or Ottawa in the Fall of 2026. In this role, the student will gain hands-on experience with architecture and system engineering activities that directly contribute to the delivery of capabilities used in land operations. Working alongside senior architects, the student will develop skills in areas such as model-based systems engineering (MBSE), requirements management, and design analysis. As a System Architecture co-op on the SoS Architecture team, you can expect to: Contribute to the analysis of system design and obsolescence; Contribute to the development of system architecture and requirements; Participate in system design, options analysis and trade studies; Contribute to the development of system models using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools; Collaborate with and shadow system architects on problem space definition, architectural analysis, and solution development; Document analysis and design in accordance with relevant standards and company standard processes; Leverage AI tools and cloud-based platforms to support work packages; Develop scripts to automate day-to-day tasks; Other duties as required. Required Skills & Experience Currently pursuing a University Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree. Note: You may still apply if you are pursuing an engineering degree that is not listed Experience working with or familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is preferred Assets Experience in technical document writing. Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models. It would be excellent if the candidate had a combination of the following qualities, but we will work with them to grow in these areas: Familiarity with AI tools and cloud technologies Familiarity with the engineering lifecycle (e.g. requirements management, configuration management, test management) Experience with system architecture adjacent disciplines or specializations: SoS architecture Test/V&V engineering Software engineering (Python) Proven problem solving abilities working with a collaborative team Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills and take on ownership of work. Strong verbal and written communication skills that enable clear articulation of ideas and delivery to an audience. It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.
